Back in May, GoodMatch teamed up with seven (7) Austin, Texas-based nonprofits to celebrate the launch of our App. At GoodMatch, we believe in the power of community-driven nonprofits and their ability to create lasting grassroots change. Over the next few weeks, we will be re-introducing you to the nonprofits that serve our city with integrity and forward-thinking!
Up next is Austin Food and Wine Alliance.
Providing the first program to provide funding that supports culinary innovation and contributes to the local community, Austin Food and Wine Alliance is a non-profit organization motivated to raise awareness in the Central Texas culinary community. Through educational programs, events, and grants AFWA is creating a strong local food system,by promoting the future generations of culinary nonprofits and businesses.
Since 2012,AFWA, has awarded more than $360,000 in grants to worthy and innovative recipients and has hosted over 2,600 students as part of a Culinary Arts Careers Conference. Since 2013, AFWA has connected to over 70 Central Texas high schools to this one-day conference that gives students the opportunity to connect with; speakers, chefs, culinary mentors, and panellists to learn about the career paths in the food and beverage world.
